Wendy French Barrett grew up on her mama’s kitchen stool begging to get her hands dirty in the tiny West TN town of Parsons. Though her first infamous dish at 7 included raw hamburger meat "slightly poached," she has gone on to more well-executed endeavors like towering cakes and homemade pasta dishes. Her love of food remained eminent, and it was clear that 9 hours a day in a windowless corporate office wouldn't do for her, no matter how much she loved her colleagues or the ability to spend $100 at Target on a whim. She was happiest when she was reading cookbooks like novels and embarking on hours-long cooking projects. She talked about Christopher Kimball like he was family and writing menus became as enjoyable as composing morose poetry was in her youth.
Thus, in 2010, Wise Butter was born.
Wise Butter is small-batch, blended butter made lovingly by hand in Nashville, TN. Our butter allows you to have a spiritual experience with toast. Or, it can make that sad little recipe you're working with sing. Our flavors change with the seasons (and our whims). We work to highlight local produce and other regional specialties. Spanning from familiar to unexpected, our one-of-a-kind butters are sure to please both gourmands and picky 5-year-olds alike.
